Already yesterday I wrote about the Violet SmartSwitch on our German Apple blog. But I think the smart light switch with color display and touchscreen is so interesting that I would like to write a few lines about it here as well. Just as a little preview, before I will look at the accessories myself in the next few weeks.
Currently, the Violet SmartSwitch is not yet on the market, but it should be available for order soon. Then it will cost the equivalent of about 140 euros – a lot of money, but you get a lot for it.
The Violet SmartSwitch then connects to the smart home either via WLAN or a network cable. Scenes of the Hue Bridge can then be selected via the colored touch display and thus the light can be controlled. There are seven scenes and an off switch on the display. How exactly the selection of the scenes will work, that is currently not quite clear to me. However, there are definitely ways to technically implement something like this via the Hue API. There will also be a slider for dimming on the Violet SmartSwitch.
But that's not all. In addition to Philips Hue, you will also be able to control your Sonos devices with the smart light switch and get album covers displayed in addition to playback control. In addition, the Violet SmartSwitch also displays the current weather and time.
In the future, the manufacturer from Great Britain also wants to support other smart home systems. Necessary for the installation in a flush-mounted box is in any case a power supply, in the simplest case of course with a neutral wire. More information about the product can be found on the manufacturer's website.
