Last week, I already received the first letters on the subject, but was not yet able to understand the whole thing. A report from The Verge now gives us more information. But what is it all about? Apparently, in some cases Philips Hue lamps suddenly switch to full brightness, even when they are dimmed. How can this be?
As is now clear, Signify has already identified the error. In a statement to The Verge, it says: “After extensive analysis, we have identified an interoperability issue with the Matter smarthome standard, in which random temporary radio traffic disruptions are incorrectly recognised as legacy switch power toggles, turning low brightness lights to full brightness.”
This also makes it clear why I haven’t had anything to do with this problem so far: my Hue Bridges still run without Matter, but exclusively with HomeKit. For me, the new smart home standard still doesn’t have any significant advantage that has prompted me to make the switch.
The Philips Hue manufacturer plans to roll out a bug fix update by next week to rectify the error. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can temporarily disconnect from Matter to prevent the error. Allegedly, only a small percentage of Hue installations are affected – you are welcome to write in the comments if you have noticed anything in the past days and weeks.

Maybe their new Formula 1 friends can help them
Another thing they seem to have broken in the last update ( July 7th for me ) is the Hue Tap dials have stopped working properly.
Dial works and turn lights on / off / Dims
Buttons register in the app as having been pressed – but no scenes or lights work. Reseting does nothing.
This is not just me – a number of people on reddit, iConnect Hue forum and FB have reported it
All my lights have turned on for no reason before, been unresponsive, sometimes gone off and on a few times and then turned off after a short while. I must have experienced this at least 3 times. I don’t know if it happens when I’m not home.
Not using matter. Defect occurred twice hue bulbs with bridge. Different rooms.
