With the update to version 5.19 of its app, Philips Hue has introduced several new functions, including the ability to combine several motion sensors into a group. For another new feature, however, I had to do some more research: “Start a ‘Go to sleep’ automation not only in the app, but also by pressing a button on a Hue switch or an iOS widget.”
Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to assign a newly created automation to a Hue Smart Button, Hue Tap Dial Switch or another switch. I simply couldn’t find the corresponding option in the switch settings. So I asked around.
Philips Hue told me that the “Go to Sleep” automation is currently only available for the switches of the new Hue Twilight – which also works for me. The other accessory products are to follow gradually – but I was not given an exact timetable.
I find it a little surprising that a new function is mentioned in the update description but is not yet available. This could have been solved or communicated more elegantly.
