Community question of the week: New scene cannot be set on switch

It's the sequence that really matters

Today I would like to deal with a small problem that I had not yet thought of. However, there are always letters on the subject, so a little advice can’t hurt. The problem is that newly created scenes do not appear in the switch configuration. Philips Hue has actually built in a little trap here.

The problem: You open the switch configuration in the Hue app and notice that the desired scene has not yet been saved in the room. So you tap on the “Home” tab, save the desired scene and then return to the settings. However, the new scene does not appear there. This is only the case when you close the switch configuration completely and then open it again. My guess: When opening the configuration, the Hue app queries all scenes that are stored in the room of the switch.


The solution: Before you start configuring a switch, you should think about which scenes you want to use with it. Now you calmly create the desired scenes and only then switch to the settings to configure the switch.

The improvement: It would of course be incredibly practical if you could access all the scenes from the Hue light scenes gallery in the switch configuration, even if they have not yet been added to the room. Perhaps Philips Hue will add a corresponding option.
