Last Tuesday, Philips Hue released a major update for its own app. Among other things, a function was added to start and stop the new sleep automations with a switch. However, so far only Tap Dial Switch, wall switch modules, Tap and Friends of Hue switches are supported.
However, this should change soon, as a recently released software update for the Hue Bridge shows. The release notes for firmware version 1965111030 state: “Added support for all remaining switches and buttons to trigger Go to Sleep automations.”
The firmware update has just been released today and should automatically land on your Hue Bridge in the next few days. Unfortunately, it’s not yet ready for me, so I can’t test whether support for the other switches is already working or whether an update for the Hue app is also required.
Specifically, I’m talking about the Philips Hue dimmer switch and the Philips Hue Smart Button. Neither can yet control sleep automations.
