Displaying the exact colour temperature for Philips Hue in Kelvin

Community question of the week

Today I would like to take care of another question from our community. Whether in the comments, by email or directly in the community section of hueblog.de, there are always interesting questions. Like the following question about colour temperatures:

When configuring White Ambiance bulbs, is it possible to set the colour temperature in Kelvin, or at least read out the value set “in the colour wheel” in Kelvin?

White lamps from Philips Hue usually provide a fixed colour temperature of 2,700 Kelvin. With White Ambiance, the value can be set from 2,200 to 6,500 Kelvin and White and Color Ambiance offer a colour temperature of 2,000 to 6,500 Kelvin. But what do the lamps actually display?

You can find out the exact value in iConnectHue (App Store-Link). To do this, select a lamp in the app and move the “Colour temperature” slider to the left or right. As soon as you keep your finger pressed, the value is displayed in Kelvin. If this is not the case, click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the same view and select the “Temperature” or “Temp & relative” option under “Colour temperature display”.

I would like to give you a few values for the standard scenes:

  • Relax at 2,250 Kelvin
  • Read at 2,900 Kelvin
  • Concentrate at 4,350 Kelvin
  • Energize at 6,400 Kelvin

I hope that I have been able to answer the question sufficiently. Which white colour do you prefer to use for your lamps?
