Even though Philips Hue has integrated several new functions into its app in recent months, not all of the possibilities offered by the system are utilised by any means. For extensive installations, especially in combination with switches and sensors, I therefore recommend taking a look at iConnectHue.
You can currently get the app for iPhone and iPad for less – and that's actually relatively rare. Normally, iConnectHue costs a reasonable €4.99, but you can currently get the app for just €2.99 (App Store-Link).
iConnectHue has been in the App Store for 10 years now and also scores with regular updates and new functions. A little tip for you: Some of these are only available in the second year after purchasing the app with additional in-app purchases or a subscription in the App Store.
Some functions of iConnectHue explained
There's hardly enough space in a single article to cover everything you can do with the app. I personally used iConnectHue to configure my switches and sensors, for example, as there are significantly more options here than with the Philips Hue app.
For example, you can set up to eight functions at the touch of a button: Colours, scenes, brightness levels, flashing, timers, reminders, group/lamp control on/off and even (optionally) animations! What I find quite practical: The dimming levels when pressing and holding a button can be freely defined.
Also very practical: If you have two or more Bridges in use, you can freely sort your rooms in iConnectHue. This makes control even easier.
