Philips Hue Festavia officially announces its return

Last year it was announced at the last minute and was sold out after a short time. We are talking about the Philips Hue Festavia, string lights for the Christmas tree. During the IFA, Philips Hue announced the return of the gadget as well as completely new possibilities.

After there was only one model of the Philips Hue Festavia with 250 LEDs distributed over a length of 20 metres in 2022, you will have more choice in 2023. In addition, the Festavia will also be offered with 500 LEDs and 40 metres of cable (divided into two strings) as well as 100 LEDs and 8 metres of cable.

And another thing has also become official: Philips Hue's string lights are suitable for outdoor use. The first generation was only meant for indoor use, although my test showed that there are no problems even outdoors after several weeks. The third innovation is the power supply. Instead of the clunky 40 watt outdoor power supply, which was still part of the delivery last year, there is now a new 30 watt plug-in power supply.

This also has the familiar outdoor connection, which is not only used to connect the Festavia. With a T-connector, other string lights or outdoor products can also be connected to the power supply, although the maximum power of 30 watts must not be exceeded. The three Festavia models themselves have 6, 14 and 28 watts.

Juicy price increase for the Hue string lights

After last year's success, Philips Hue is now giving other retailers the opportunity to sell at least the two longer versions of the Hue Festavia. In return, the non-binding price increase of the light chain has risen significantly. Instead of 159.99 euros, the model with 250 LEDs now costs 219.99 euros.

For the long version with 500 LEDs, even an unbelievable 359.99 euros are demanded. For the short Festavia, which Philips Hue sells exclusively in its own shop, 119.99 euros are due. The string lights will be available in September.
