Available in two colours

Philips Hue is expanding its accessories portfolio and now also offers contact sensors in addition to the security cameras as part of the newly launched Hue Secure system. However, these can also be used completely independently of the cameras, just like a Hue motion sensor, for example.

The Philips Hue Secure contact sensor measures 7 x 2.2 x 2 centimetres and can detect when a door or window is opened or closed thanks to a small magnet. The contact sensor is mounted either with the adhesive tape included in the scope of delivery or alternatively with screws. The ZigBee accessory is powered by a replaceable CR2 battery that is supposed to last about two years.

Get peace of mind both home or away with the Secure contact sensor! Place it on doors, windows, cabinets, safes, and more with the included adhesive backing — and a receive notification or even turn on the lights when the sensor is opened.

Hue Secure contact sensor only suitable for indoors

To make the visual match a little easier, Philips Hue offers the contact sensor with a white or black housing. The price for a single sensor is 39.99 euros, in a double pack you pay 69.99 euros. The market launch will take place in autumn.

By the way, the new contact sensor for Philips Hue is not suitable for outdoor use as it only has an IP20 certification. However, models of this type are usually mounted on the inside anyway.
