In recent years, Ikea’s Trådfri products have become a popular and, above all, affordable alternative to the originals from Philips Hue. Now the Swedish furniture store has launched a new light source.
The new addition is a filament lamp with a globe form factor and a diameter of 95 millimetres. The colour temperature is fixed at a warm 2,200 Kelvin, and the maximum brightness of the dimmable lamp is stated at 470 lumens.
This makes the Trådfri bulb a little bit less bright than the comparable Hue White bulb by Philips Hue, which comes with 580 lumens. The arrangement of the LED filament strips is also clearly different at Ikea, namely straight and not twisted.
In the end, it is mainly the price that makes the difference. The Ikea light with ZigBee connection costs just 9.99 euros. The comparable Globe light from Philips Hue has a list price of 34.99 euros and a street price of around 25 euros.
