Philips Hue has not launched any new light strips this year. My favourite remains the Philips Hue Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip, which can display several colours and has quite small distances between the individual LEDs. However, at a price of well over 100 euros, the two metre long light strip is not particularly cheap.
In recent years, Ikea's Trådfri products have become a popular and, above all, affordable alternative to the originals from Philips Hue. Now the Swedish furniture store has launched a new light source. The new addition is a filament lamp with a globe form factor and a diameter of 95 millimetres. The colour temperature is fixed at a warm 2,200 Kelvin, and the maximum brightness of the dimmable lamp is stated at 470 lumens.
The open ZigBee standard has always made it possible for third-party lamps to be connected to the Hue Bridge. Although not with all functions, the essential smart lighting control works perfectly. Swedish furniture giant Ikea now offers two extravagantly designed lights in the Pilskott series, which can be ordered now for 99.99 euros in the online shop and also purchased directly in stores.
A visit to Ikea is worth it twice this month. Next week there will be a new Sonos speaker and four new light bulbs from the Trådfri series are already available. Today I would like to take a look at the new ZigBee lamps with frosted glass. In my opinion, these are a real eye-catcher.
