Unboxing the new Philips Hue Go portable table lamp

Equipped with charging station, battery and handle

Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little longer until the Philips Hue Go portable table lamp is launched on the European market – it will not be until 2023. In the USA and Canada, the launch of the new Hue Go is scheduled for late October or early November. Nevertheless, I would like to show you today what you can expect when the new version of the Philips Hue Go comes onto the market.

For 149.99 euros you get a rather bulky box, but that's no big surprise. After all, the Hue Go portable table lamp is around 35 centimetres tall and cannot be taken apart. In addition, as usual, there is no plastic in the box, instead the table lamp is secured and protected with cardboard.

Small handle provides a colourful accent

A small handle made of silicone is attached to the leg of the Hue Go, but it has a slit open at the back and does not completely enclose the leg. If you don't like this handle, you can simply remove it. Otherwise, there is only one button on the portable table lamp, which is located on top of the lampshade. With this button, you can switch the Hue Go on and off and switch through nine different scenes.

Depending on the selected brightness and scene, the Hue Go portable table lamp lasts up to 48 hours on battery power – even in adverse conditions, because thanks to the IP54 protection class, even a rain shower is no problem. The charging station, on the other hand, is only intended for indoor use.

The Philips Hue Go portable table lamp is always ready for use

While the table lamp, which is mainly made of aluminium, makes a really solid impression, the planning of the charging station was a bit sloppy in my opinion. Personally, I would have preferred a white charging station for the white model. The two-metre-long cable, which is firmly connected to the power supply unit, certainly doesn't make the highest quality impression. I would have preferred a cable braided with nylon, like the Perifo system.

In general, the charging station is a very practical thing. This way, the Hue Go can be used indoors, but at the same time it is always ready to be taken to the terrace or the bathroom. I will find out for you in the coming weeks how the Hue Go performs in everyday life.
