That was fast: Last week Philips Hue released the new Hue Tap Dial switch, you could already read my impressions. Now the popular iConnectHue app also offers full support for the new switch.
Before we get into the details, one small thing first: Existing customers might not get the update around the Hue Tap Dial Switch for free. Either a membership or the 2022 upgrade is required, which at 2.99 euros is not particularly expensive. New customers who have purchased iConnectHue version 4.10 or newer will get the new features for free.
In iConnectHue, the Hue Tap Dial Switch gets all the functions that are known from the switch editor of the app:
- Use it with many alternations, like group-on-state, multiple presses, by daylight, by time, by week(end).
- Use Magic scenes, Scenes, Animations, timers, group/light switches and more
- Use the wizard to set it up, or set it up as you like
In the end, that’s a lot more options than are available in the official Hue app.
The iConnectHue Watch app is also improved
As an aside, iConnectHue now offers an improved app for the Apple Watch. Developer Stefan Göhler writes:
We’ve refreshened the design of our watch app – and we think it really stands out! Not only this, if you have a Membership or the 2022 Upgrade or purchased the app with version 4.10 or later, you’ll get haptic feedback and the right icon for your group type. If you have an Apple Watch and didn’t try out Watch Plus or our Pro Membership, which even lets you use your Widget on your Watch, this is really a good moment to do so!
iConnectHue is still available for download exclusively in the App Store for iPhone and iPad and costs 4.99 euros.
