A fortnight ago, the Philips Hue Tap Dial was released with the new mini mount. While nothing has changed on the switch itself, you get to enjoy a new mount. While the previous mounting plate with its dimensions of just under 8 x 8 centimetres (in Europe) fit on common empty flush-mounted boxes, the new alternative is limited to a small mini mount with a diameter of only 4.8 centimetres.
That was fast: Last week Philips Hue released the new Hue Tap Dial switch, you could already read my impressions. Now the popular iConnectHue app also offers full support for the new switch. Before we get into the details, one small thing first: Existing customers might not get the update around the Hue Tap Dial Switch for free.
In addition to third-party Friends of Hue switches, Philips Hue has previously offered the Dimmer Switch, Smart Button and Wall Switch Module as “light switch” accessories. After the retirement of the Hue Tap a few years ago, the second generation is now on its way: The Philips Hue Tap Dial switch.
