The first information has already leaked out briefly in the past few weeks, but now we can officially announce it. In addition to the new Philips Hue wall switch module, the manufacturer has also presented the new Philips Hue Amarant outdoor lighting today. It is a wallwasher that expands the low-voltage portfolio of Philips Hue.
The 79.5-centimetre-wide wall washer is already available for pre-order today and is scheduled to ship later in January – in North America, patience is still required until early March. With the Philips Hue Amarant you will be able to illuminate fences, walls and hedges outdoors over a large area, with 1,400 lumens the brightness is once again a corner higher than with the Hue Lily XL, which comes to a maximum of 1,050 lumens.
The price will be just a little higher: 149.99 euros is the recommended retail price for the Philips Hue Amarant, which is around 10 euros more than for the Hue Lily XL. Just like the large garden spot, the new wall washer will only be available as an extension without a power supply unit, which must be purchased separately. With a maximum power consumption of 20 watts, you will be able to connect two Hue Amarant to the small 40 watt power supply, up to five to the large outdoor power supply with 100 watts.
This is what Philips Hue says about the new Amarant wall washer
The new Philips Hue Amaranth linear spotlight enables users to wash outdoor walls with light for the right ambiance in their garden no matter what season. The wall washing effect with vibrant light in millions of colours is intensified by the metal shield and spices up the look and feel of a blank wall in gardens or on balconies. The Amarant can be mounted on the floor or upside down on an overhanging roof to take outdoor light decoration to the next level. As part of the LowVolt luminaire collection, it’s easy to install and extend with more fixtures to fully personalize the ambiance of your outdoor space.
I really like the installation options that Philips Hue offers us with this wallwasher. The 24-volt power supply is connected from the left and the wallwasher has an outlet on the right side. This way, you can directly connect another Hue Amarant or of course any other outdoor product from the 24-volt portfolio without complicated wiring. Nevertheless, a T-piece and an extension cable are included in the scope of delivery of the Philips Hue Amarant, so you have all options.
Also interesting: The wall washer has a kind of metal cover on the back. This serves to radiate the light even more evenly towards the wall and also to avoid a glare effect. In principle, you can mount the Philips Hue Amarant not only on the floor but also on the wall.
