Finally, I read in the comments that other smart lighting manufacturers are on the rise. Among others, Govee was mentioned here. I have to agree in part: Individual products are certainly impressive, but when it comes to the entire ecosystem, Philips Hue is still miles ahead of the competition. What’s more, the Govee app is still not particularly user-friendly.
Today I took a closer look at the Govee Floor Lamp 2 on our german Apple blog appgefahren.de, here you can go directly to the review. Unsurprisingly, there are 144 LEDs in the rod of the floor lamp, but there are also 30 separately controllable LEDs in the base. And here I have to say: that would also be something for Philips Hue.
Philips Hue with a boring base so far
The base of the Philips Hue Gradient Signe has not been very spectacular so far, only the Oak version stands out with its wooden look. But why not simply build a light into the base? I think the idea is really great, for example as discreet lighting and for use as a night light.
From a technical point of view, I don’t see a problem, after all Philips Hue introduced a new MSL controller at the beginning of the year with the Hue Dymera, which allows several separately controllable light points in one lamp.
So far, my radar hasn’t picked up on an improved Signe, as the Gradient Signe doesn’t feel that old. However, I am sure that Philips Hue will launch new products this year that are equipped with the new MSL controller for two separate light points.
