A glance at the calendar reveals that the time until Christmas is now shorter than the time since Christmas. In less than half a year, we’ll be putting up Christmas trees in our living rooms again. And of course, the right lighting can’t be missing.
Last November, Philips Hue launched its smart Festavia string lights at the very last minute. At that time, it was sold exclusively via the in-house shop and was already sold out at the beginning of December. Since then, the Festavia can no longer be ordered.
But don’t worry: the light chain will of course return in 2023. After the great success at the late start last year, the “re-launch” should take place much earlier this year. I assume that the string lights will be available for order again from September, or October at the latest.

Are more variants of the Hue Festavia coming?
Will Philips Hue offer other models besides the well-known 20-metre model with 250 LEDs? I have a hard time assuming so. The smart light chain pioneers from Twinkly offer models with 100, 250, 400 and 600 LEDs. Whether Philips Hue will expand the Festavia product range that far is uncertain. But I do expect one or two more variants.
Another construction site is the outdoor suitability. Officially, the Festavia has only been intended for indoor use, but everything has indicated that it was actually designed for outdoor use. I think it is very likely that this will be one of the official “innovations”.
And the exclusivity is also likely to end. In any case, it would be very unusual if Philips Hue continues to sell Festavia only through its in-house shop in its second year and continues to leave out local retailers or big online giants like Amazon. In 2022, the main reason for this was probably the fact that the Festavia light chain was only finished at the last minute.

Are the Hue strings configurable like Twinkly where I can define patterns, designs and such?
Is it know in which countries Festavia was available for purchase?
I bought the Festavia lights but was so disappointed with their very limited functionality that I quickly returned them. They simply did not compare with Twinkly, so a revised version for this year would need considerable improvements.
David, you can actually really make them shine with iConnectHue’s animations!
We also have the Twinklys, and while it’s not possible to do the same effects with the Festavia, we have offered our Pro members a way to run more sophisticated effects, making our entire animation library available for them.
