If you want your lights to light up rhythmically to music, you can do this directly in the Hue app. However, Hue Sync only supports Spotify, no other sources. If you prefer to listen to your music with Apple Music, the classic CD or another streaming service, then the Discotainment mode in iConnectHue (App Store link) could be something for you.
Stefan Göhler, the developer of the popular €3.99 application for iPhone and iPad, presents the new Discotainment 2.0 after a few weeks of hard work. This uses the microphone on the iPhone or iPad to recognise the music and then sends the appropriate commands to the Hue Bridge to light up the lamps to match the beat.
New beat stabiliser for everyone
Among other things, there is now a beat stabiliser. Even if iConnectHue is unable to recognise the beat at a short point in the song, the existing effects will continue. In addition, delays can be better compensated for when recording via the microphone. This new function is enabled for everyone.
New pulsing effect with the 2023 upgrade package
“A new effect that just looks great – lights that change brightness with the beat, especially in combination with other effects,” says the developer. The minimum and maximum brightness can be set in the app. This function is available with the 2023 upgrade package and for every member.
Automatic effect mode for more variety
If the party lasts longer, the light doesn’t have to look the same the whole time. With the automatic effect mode, Discotainment can automatically switch between effects. There are also extensive settings here. This function is available to all paying members.
