Hue Secure contact sensor now compatible with HomeKit

Firmware update released

A lot has happened around Philips Hue in recent weeks – and it’s not getting boring. The Philips Hue Secure Contact Sensor released in September has now received a firmware update that adds a function that many Apple users have been missing.

The latest update adds support for HomeKit to the Hue Secure Contact Sensor. Just like Hue light bulbs and other accessories, the contact sensor is now also visible in HomeKit – this was previously not the case.

Hue Secure Contact Sensor can control other devices via HomeKit

This opens up completely new possibilities for the smart home. After all, the “open” and “closed” status can now also be used to create automations in HomeKit and thus control other HomeKit devices that are not connected to the Philips Hue Bridge.

This new function requires the firmware update to version 1961076030 for the sensor. As a rule, the update is required and you don’t have to do anything except be patient.

  1. My Hue bridge is on 1.61.1961076030, my Hue secure contact sensor on 2.67.9. However, I don’t see the contact sensor in HomeKit, nor in Matter. Is there any special configuration I need to see the sensor in HomeKit?

The contact sensor exposed through the v2 API, but not through the v1 API, so Homebridge Hue cannot help out either, as it uses the v1 API. I suppose the gen-1 Hue bridge doesn’t support the sensor, as that only provides the v1 API.

The sensor is supported in deCONZ, including HomeKit support through Homebridge deCONZ.

  2. Not sure what went wrong previously, but after re-pairing the Hue bridge with HomeKit, the contact sensor shows.

  3. same…nou ik zie hem helemaal niet in apple homekit
wel in hue app…. zelfde versie …30 nov gekocht

  4. hi.. I have a question and not sure here’s the best place to ask.
