Philips Hue Perifo track system: unboxing and installation

We still have to be patient for about a month until the Perifo rail system by Philips Hue will be available in stores. After a first impression in June, I already had the opportunity to try out one of the sets. How it went with the installation, I would like to tell you today.

  • Hue Perifo lights: 119,99 – 299,99 Euro

These are the sets and individual pieces that will be available in stores in black and white from 13 September. I won't make a concrete judgement on the prices until the end of the month, when I have tried out the system extensively in everyday life.

Unboxing of the wall light set

For my test, I chose the Perifo wall light set with three spots. This does not require a fixed ceiling connection, but comes with an external power supply. A thick, but quite chicly designed lump, especially since the cables are braided with nylon on both sides. What exactly is included in the set, which costs 649.99 euros, you can see in the following (german) video.

The installation of the Perifo set explained

The assembly of the Perifo track system requires some manual skill, but in the end it is no great feat. Especially in the case of the wall light set with the external power supply unit, installation is as easy as can be, because here you don't even have to fiddle with 230 volts and open cables.

As always, preparation is everything. To make sure that the rails are really straight, I used a laser that I aligned with the kitchen counter. With wall mounting it should be a little easier, here a water level should do the job.

The rails, whether 50 or 100 centimetres, are attached to the ceiling or wall with two screws each. Dowels, screws and washers are included in the delivery.

Once the tracks are mounted, the connecting piece, end cap, power supply unit and also the spots are simply inserted. The spots can be freely moved, angled and also rotated. In my home, I simply let them shine straight down.

The empty spaces between the spots can then simply be filled with a plastic cover. Each track comes with one metre of cover, which just needs to be cut to size.

What are your questions about the Perifo track system?

In my opinion, there is really not much you can do wrong when installing the Perifo rail system. I will give my final verdict in two to three weeks. Until then, feel free to ask me your questions about the system in the comments. You will find the answers directly here or in the upcoming test report at the latest.
