The Philips Hue track system is becoming even more flexible this month. More precisely, with the new flexible corner connector, which can now be ordered in the Philips Hue online shop for 34.99 euros in the colours black or white. As always, it’s not cheap, but this small accessory opens up many new possibilities.
Philips Hue has taken a little more time this year and today, just two weeks after the world’s largest trade fair for consumer electronics, presented its new products for the start of 2024. As in previous years, it’s a rather small number, but there are some very interesting candidates. The Philips Hue Perifo track system was released in 2022 and was a real problem solver for me. After all, I was able to erase a shadow directly on the worktop in the kitchen. It was very helpful for me that Philips Hue not only offers a classic 230 volt power supply on the ceiling, but also an external power supply unit with plug.
Actually, it was supposed to be ready in spring, but in the end it took a little longer than planned. In the context of the IFA announcement, Philips Hue has now announced that the Matter update for the Hue Bridge, which was promised last year, will be rolled out in September.
I have already reported several times about the Philips Hue Perifo track system, which was released in summer 2022. While I have already installed the spots in my kitchen, I have not yet tested the Hue Perifo Linear Lightbar. Today we want to change that. The technical data of the 95-centimetre-long lightbar, which can simply be plugged into a Perifo rail, are impressive.
I have already reported about the new Philips Hue Perifo track system, especially my impressions around the external power supply turned out very positive. For me, the rail, which I currently have equipped with three spots, is a real problem solver in my kitchen. As a test, I have now inserted a Perifo pendant luminaire into the rail.
The Philips Hue Perifo track system was officially launched this week. The availability is still quite modest, but this should improve considerably in the course of the next few weeks. I have been using one of the available Perifo bundles for over a month now – and would like to give you a short summary today.
Today, the Philips Hue Perifo track system is officially launched. In the official Philips Hue online shop, numerous bundles are already listed, but you can’t order the Perifo sets and individual parts yet. Other retailers, such as Click-Licht.de, promise availability only in about four weeks. However, I did discover one interesting detail: The ceiling power supply of the Perifo track system has a small cap on the side that can be easily removed if you want to disconnect the power supply “externally”.
The secrecy at Philips Hue has once again worked extremely badly this half-year. Three new products have already been distributed on the internet before they were publicly announced. In the past years, Philips Hue has always presented its new products around the International Consumer Electronics Fair in Berlin. It can be assumed that this will also be the case in 2022.
We still have to be patient for about a month until the Perifo rail system by Philips Hue will be available in stores. After a first impression in June, I already had the opportunity to try out one of the sets. How it went with the installation, I would like to tell you today.
