Samsung clarifies: It’s all about music

No replacement for the HDMI Sync Box

About a month ago I was able to tell you that Samsung was working on Hue Sync support for its TVs. Unfortunately, I now have some bad news for you, as Samsung's connection with Philips Hue turns out to be less extensive than initially thought.

In a statement to SamMobile, Samsung revealed: “In the coming months, we hope to announce more details of an expanded partnership between Samsung SmartThings and Philips Hue that will provide enhanced music experiences.”

So it won't be about the TV and the content on the screen, but about music. For example, it's conceivable that music played on a Samsung SmartThings compatible speaker could also be visualised simultaneously with Philips Hue light bulbs.

We will probably find out in the course of the year what exactly the collaboration between Philips Hue will look like. And who knows? Maybe there will be more to come after the first cornerstone…
