Hue Smart Button: problems solved, switch adapter coming

Still exclusively available at Amazon

The Hue Smart Button has kept us pretty busy in the past few weeks since its launch at the end of October. Especially the problems in connection with third-party accessories have caused irritation. As I was able to report last week, Signify took care of the problem and provided a firmware update for the Hue Smart Button. Meanwhile, the button’s software can be updated from version 2.21.0_r29784 to 2.30.0_r30777 – and the problems with accessories like the Innr Smart Plug are indeed solved.

In November, we were able to report that the British manufacturer Samotech is planning an adapter frame which allows for the Hue Smart Button to be mounted on a naked light switch without removing it. Samotech has received the first samples of the SM216 and forwarded one to me. I assume that the sale on Amazon will start in January. Needless to say that I will update you on the corresponding information.

By the way, Amazon is the right keyword. Just as the Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is still only available at MediaMarkt and Saturn, Amazon is the exclusive sales partner for the Hue Smart Button. But there are a few other good offers regarding the Hue Smart Button – like the GU10 starter set with three spot lamps, the Hue Bridge and two Smart Buttons.

This little button makes a big impact. A single click controls your lights, while pressing and holding the button dims or brightens them. Better yet: your lights will turn on to our recommended color and brightness based on the time of day.
