Control light in the browser thanks to Chrome extension

SimpleHue is still under development

Controlling the Hue lamps directly with the mouse and keyboard is a very pleasant thing, especially when you’re sitting at your desk at home. I’ve already introduced you to a few options, such as We Love Lights, a nifty little app for the Mac. If you don’t want to spend any money, there is now another alternative.

SimpleHue is the name of a new browser extension that is now available via the Chrome Web Store. The small extension can be activated by you while surfing the web and then enables simplified control of the Hue system.

According to the developer, SimpleHue currently offers support for several Hue Bridges and can not only switch the light in different rooms and zones or activate scenes, a dimming function is also already integrated. One of the upcoming updates will also add colour control to SimpleHue.

I would have liked to give you my own impressions of the Chrome extension, but unfortunately the applications don’t work for me as they should. When pairing the bridge, there is an error message due to too many requests. I just hope that this is only happening to me and that you have more success in your Chrome browser.

  1. Hello, I am the developer of the SimpleHue Chrome extension. To solve the issue of “too many requests,” now the extension supports adding the hue bridge by typing the IP address.

    Thanks for reviewing my extension.
