With the update to version 5.19 of its app, Philips Hue has introduced several new functions, including the ability to combine several motion sensors into a group. For another new feature, however, I had to do some more research: “Start a ‘Go to sleep’ automation not only in the app, but also by pressing a button on a Hue switch or an iOS widget.”
Have you already complained about the price of the Hue Aurelle? You thought that the Hue Surimu was the end of the line? Then you were wrong. This week, Philips Hue has introduced another ceiling light that goes one better. The reder is the Philips Hue Datura. While you can get the largest and most expensive Hue Aurelle with White Ambiance technology including Hue dimmer switch for “only” 239.99 euros, the Hue Surimu in the same size, but with coloured light and without a switch, costs 329.99 euros.
The Philips Hue Lightguide is not entirely new, it has been with us for around a year and a half. However, the new releases from Philips Hue in June include a total of four new shapes. The previously available Lightguide Ellipse is joined by Edison, Triangle and a large and small Globe.
On Tuesday, Philips Hue not only launched new products on the market, but also a new software version. Version 5.19 of the Hue app is now available to download and offers several new features. One of these is Smart Scene Mapping, which is explained as follows in the update description: Every time you set a scene from the scene gallery, it’s now mapped to the lights in the space and what they’re used for.
Even before the official launch on Tuesday, I was able to tell you that Philips Hue will be launching another light strip. The Hue Solo Lightstrip is now available – in three versions. The 3 metre long light strip is available exclusively from the Philips Hue online shop, while the 5 and 10 metre lengths will also be available from independent retailers.
Philips Hue has released another update for the official app in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, which brings some interesting new features. Among other things, sensors can now be grouped together – a function that was previously only available in Hue Labs. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to try out the features of the new version myself.
After I was able to share the first pictures of the new Philips Hue Twilight last week, there was a lot of mockery about the design. No wonder, because at that time you couldn’t complain about the price of the new bedside lamp. Today I had the opportunity to try out the Hue Twilight myself for the first time.
Back in January, I called for exactly that when I presented the new Philips MyCreation table lamps from the 3D printer: Small table lamps for the Philips Hue Lightguide series that are optimised for the rather chunky lamp base. You could almost think that Philips Hue has been reading my blog in this case, because as part of the launch of two new and two “old” Lightguide models, they have also introduced small table lamps from the 3D printer that are perfect for the Lightguide series.
Unfortunately, there was no news about Hue Secure at today’s product launch, at least as far as the hardware is concerned. No new devices were presented for the security system, which was launched last autumn. However, the manufacturer today presented a number of new functions relating to the software behind Hue Secure, which are to be made available in the second half of 2024.
Last week I was able to introduce you to some new products from Philips Hue. Among other things, there are brighter GU10 spotlights, but also a whole new product category with the Philips Hue Twilight. You have also already seen the new, affordable Philips Hue Solo Lightstrip. Today, Philips Hue has made its new products for June 2024 official – and I would like to take a first look with you.
