FabianWhile I’m somehow trying to make it to Berlin today—Deutsche Bahn is making things extremely exciting again today—Nanoleaf has now officially confirmed what we’ve known for a few days. On its website, the company is showcasing the “Nanoleaf x Hue Controller,” which integrates Nanoleaf Shapes into the Hue app.
“A simple yet powerful addition opens up a whole new ‘Shapes’ experience for you. No remodeling. No starting from scratch,” reads the description on the Nanoleaf website. Even with existing installations, all you need to do is plug in the new Philips Hue Wall Light Module to get started right away in the Hue app.
Interestingly, the Nanoleaf website lists a maximum of 120 modules, while Philips Hue itself has mentioned 100 modules in the descriptions that have leaked so far. That said, it’s generally safe to assume that between 9 and perhaps 25 modules will end up on the wall.
Nanoleaf and Hue Can Be Used Simultaneously
We’ve already learned that the Nanoleaf Shapes can also be used exclusively with the new Hue Controller. If desired, the Nanoleaf Controller can continue to be used at the same time. When used together, Nanoleaf promises the following highlights:
- Music Synchronization: Watch your Shapes react instantly to music thanks to built-in features. Spotify integration is required for Hue.
- Screen Synchronization: Mirror the colors of your screen directly onto your Shapes. A Sync Box is required for use with the Hue app.
- Schedules & Automations: Automate your Shapes with schedules and automations in the Nanoleaf app. Similar features are available via “Routines” and “Automations” in the Hue app.
All of this certainly sounds very exciting and should breathe new life into the Nanoleaf Shapes. Things should officially kick off by tomorrow at the latest…
