If you’re thinking about buying GU10 spotlights for your Philips Hue system, you should be patient for a few more weeks. Apparently the launch of improved hardware is imminent, and I have already been able to discover a new version of the GU10 spots from Philips Hue in some countries.
Until now, only the simple Hue White spots, which only use warm white LEDs with 2,700 Kelvin, were bright up to 400 lumens. The GU10 spots with White Ambiance or White and Colour Ambiance only managed 350 lumens at a much cooler 4,000 Kelvin. With standard white of 2,700 Kelvin, it is even only 230 lumens.
This is how bright the new Philips Hue GU10 spots are
The brightness of the new 2024 version of the Philips Hue GU10 spotlights has been significantly increased. At 4,000 Kelvin, there are 400 lumens, which is an increase of around 14 per cent. The increase is even higher for the standard white version, which has risen from 230 lumens to 350 lumens. This corresponds to an increase of around 52 per cent.
- 4.000 Kelvin: 350 → 400 lumens
- 2.700 Kelvin: 230 → 350 lumens
But that’s not all. The energy efficiency label has been improved from G to E, which is a considerable increase for compact LEDs. Power consumption is now specified as 4.2 watts.
We will probably find out in the coming weeks exactly when the new GU10 spotlights from Philips Hue will be officially launched on the market.

What a good news! The current model does not meet California’s efficiency requirement cant’t be sold. I had to buy second handed on Amazon, which apparently doesn’t have the same efficiency requirement.
I noticed that in the US Philips sells even 450 lm GU10 bulbs. Is it possible to buy them here in EU?
