Today I briefly considered trying out the Lightbar for the Perifo track system, but we’ll postpone that until later. Today we will first deal with a question from the community that Michel sent me. He asks:
I want a certain lamp to come on at sunset, but only when I’m at home. How can I set this in the Hue app?
In the Hue app you can set automations on time for sunset, that’s no problem. You can also set automations for when you come and go. Controlling a lamp depending on presence, however, does not work with Hue tools only.
For Apple users, the solution is particularly simple
If you are in the Apple universe and use a HomeKit home hub, such as an Apple TV or a HomePod, then Apple’s Home app is the easiest option. You can create an automation there and use the presence of people as a dependency. It then looks like this:
Practical: You can even specify that the automation should only be executed when you are at home. The various family members are recognised by the position of their iPhones. And since you hardly ever leave the house without your smartphone these days, that’s a pretty accurate thing to do.
Will something be done about this in the Hue app in the future? Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure…
another solution is to use the smartthinghs app routines (both android and ios)
