Last fall, Philips and Sonos launched their partnership. It all began with the integration of Philips Hue into Sonos Voice Control. Using simple voice commands that are processed locally and don’t rely on the cloud, you can easily control the Hue lights in your home via Sonos speakers. So far, there’s been just one hurdle: even years after its launch, Sonos Voice Control is still available exclusively in English and French.
It’s not entirely unlikely that a well-equipped smart home with Philips Hue lighting will also feature Sonos speakers. After all, Sonos is the market leader when it comes to smart control and multi-room functionality. As I have now learned, the two manufacturers are set to join forces soon – at least when it comes to voice control.
I have already reported about the Violet SmartSwitch Lite twice in the past, currently pre-orders for the EU version are already possible – you can find more information at the end of the article. The 86 x 86 millimeter Violet SmartSwitch Lite replaces a single light switch on the wall and requires its own power supply, so a neutral or other power source is needed.
A few months ago, I was able to give you the first details about the Violet SmartSwitch. In the meantime, the project has progressed further and on the website of the British manufacturer, pre-orders for an EU version (round switch boxes) of the Violet SmartSwitch can already be placed. Unfortunately, the whole thing is not quite cheap, but in return you get a rather unique control option.
