The second generation Philips Hue Go, which is planned for October, has a lot going for it. One of the main points of criticism of the first generation was certainly the fact that you could only access a few defined scenes at the push of a button away from your home ZigBee network.

We did not expect such a quick release: after Philips introduced new Hue lamps with additional Bluetooth connection last month – which are already available in the USA with an E27 base – there is new information for the European market. According to the information I have received, new lamps with Bluetooth will be delivered on August 15th.

I do not mind connecting the Philips Hue Bridge to my router with a LAN cable. Since I use my Fritz!Box and Netgear Orbi together, I have enough connections anyway. Nevertheless, it would be more useful to at least have the choice between the two connection options. At the moment, we can only speculate why Signify did not enable a WiFi function in the bridge.
