In my article “Philips Hue is working on member management” I already announced this feature, now Philips Hue seems to be pretty close to launch.
After logging in with the web browser to account.meethue.com, you will already find a section called “My Homes” in the “My Philips Hue System” section, which shows the number of Hue Bridge and the number of members.
In the detail view, there is then an overview of the members. Here it states:
“As an administrator of this Home, you have full control and configuration permissions for this system, as well as member and Home management permissions.”
At the top you can see the “Manage members” section. All accounts that have connected to the Hue Bridge are listed here. As an administrator, you can specify whether individuals should have complete access to the system or only have access to the lighting. It says: “Lighting is a default permission for all members to control the lights and adjust the settings in this Home.”
Currently no changes in the Hue app
The settings do not seem to have any effect in practice at the moment. Even as a member with the “lighting” permission, you still have access to all functions of the Hue app. But this is not necessarily surprising, because this function has not been officially announced yet. I could well imagine that an update of the Hue app will be necessary to activate the new function.
