About ten days ago, I asked you a question: which features do you want for Philips Hue? But as simple as the question sounds, you can't answer it in a simple way. Every user has different needs, expectations and ideas. Nevertheless, it quickly became clear that some features are high on the wish list.
Today, I'd like to answer a question you've probably already thought about: how bright are the different Philips Hue lamps? After all, there's a huge range, from 120 lumens for the Philips Hue Bloom table lamp to 6,000 lumens for the Philips Hue Ensis pendant lamp.
Unfortunately, the ultimate light switch for Philips Hue is still not available, even though we have already moved in a very good direction with the Friends of Hue products. As I have learned, Philips Hue is also interested in smart wired light switches.
Last week, I reported about a firmware update for all older Hue lights without Bluetooth. After installing the update, it was possible to dim the light even more. An innovation that led to many satisfied voices. But there is also a small problem connected with it.

With the Hue Tap, the very first switch for Philips Hue is now obsolete. Although the round switch with the four buttons is still sold, it is technically outdated. It has been replaced by the Friends of Hue switches which are equipped with improved technology and can be better integrated into existing switch ranges.
So is this good news or bad news? Check Point's security experts have discovered a vulnerability in the Hue system that allows you to access even computers that are shared on the network with the Hue Bridge. The vulnerability has now been resolved by Signify – at least partly. Signify, the manufacturer of Philips Hue, was already informed about the gap in the system in November 2019.
