MelIn the past, we have already been asked several times whether the Hue Outdoor LightStrip can be shortened. I would like to take up this topic in the blog. To cut a long story short: the answer is no.
The Hue LightStrip for indoor use can easily be shortened with scissors at several preset points. This makes it easy to adapt it to local conditions. However, this is not possible with the Hue Outdoor LightStrip.
Why not? First of all, you have to compare the two products. The Indoor LightStrip only consists of the light elements themselves, the outdoor version is wrapped again to make it waterproof. In this case, you cannot simply use scissors to cut the light tube. If you would do that, it would no longer be operational.
With the Outdoor LightStrip you definitely have to measure your place of installation first. The LightStrip is available for outdoor use in 2 and 5 meter versions. With these lengths you should be able to plan well, unfortunately nothing is possible in between.
We ask you: Would you like an option to shorten the Outdoor LightStrip?
