The new light strips have been available in stores for a few weeks now, and I’ve already tried them out. Since day one, I’ve been getting questions about one topic in particular. What about accessories for the new light strips? Unfortunately, you’ll have to be patient a little longer.
The accessories were originally supposed to be released in December, but that’s not going to happen. They’ll probably be ready in the first quarter, so you’ll have to be patient a little longer for your more complicated projects. However, I was able to get my hands on three of the new connectors and would like to present the accessories to you in detail today.
These accessories for the Hue Flux light strips are coming
But first, let’s take a look at all the parts that are currently being prepared for market launch:
- Hue Flux Gradient Lightstrip Mounts: Transparent clips for screwing
- Hue Flux Gradient Lightstrip Corner Connector: 90-degree corner
- Hue Flux Gradient Lightstrip Flex Connector: 50-centimeter-long flexible connection cable
- Hue Flux Gradient Lightstrip Connector: For connecting cut pieces
- Hue Flux Gradient Lightstrip Extension Cable: 5-meter cable between power supply and Zigbee controller
- Hue Flux Extension: 2, 5, or 10-meter LED strip including connector
Connections significantly improved compared to the Lightstrip Plus
Some time ago, Philips Hue introduced small clips for the Hue Lightstrip Plus to reconnect cut pieces. However, they didn’t work very well at the time. Fortunately, things are different with the Hue Flux light strip.
Here, the contacts are pushed between the actual LED strip and the silicone sheathing before the clip is closed. Even if the light strip is then moved back and forth, there are no loose contacts. So in practice, there really shouldn’t be any problems here.
It’s perhaps a bit of a shame that the Flex connector is only available in a length of 50 centimeters. Shorter and longer versions would certainly also find buyers.
But for now, let’s hope that all the accessories will be available soon so that you can finally get started on your planned projects. Over time, there will be even more options, perhaps from third-party suppliers as well.

Hello. Greetings from the U.S. I am considering to use a light strips for my crown molding (bedrooms). One is 68ft and another 53ft. (length of the crown molding in celling perimeter). Which products would you recommend?
Hi, great work giving us updates on this 😀
For the Flux lightstrip I noticed you have different color after the last joint.
– Is it possible to control each segment of the lightstrip in the hue app without adding physical connector?
– or is it only possible after adding a physical connector?
I have a 20 m flux lightstrip around my living room, would be nice to be able to turn off some segments i.e. when watching tv 🙂 For now I have not found a way to control each segment in the app.
I think it’s just a gradient. The left side looks more purple too.
Yes it’s a standard gradient. But maybe there is more coming next year, who knows…
“It’s perhaps a bit of a shame that the Flex connector is only available in a length of 50 centimeters. Shorter and longer versions would certainly also find buyers.” Indeed, in Europe kitchen cupboards are 60 or 80 cm wide as standard so to be making this accessory in 50 cm is just foolish.
