Philips Hue removes Apple Home promise from its website

Should have been available in the first quarter

Note: Article contains affiliate links. What’s that?

During its major presentation in Berlin in September, Philips Hue announced its intention to integrate its Hue Secure cameras and video doorbell into Apple Home. At the beginning of the year, the company was more specific and announced that the feature would be available in the first quarter of 2026. There is still a little time left until the end of March, but there is an unpleasant surprise concerning the Apple Home integration. What exactly is going on?

Originally, the following paragraph was shared with us in this press release:

The wired Hue Secure camera, Hue Secure video doorbell, and Hue contact sensors will soon work seamlessly with Apple Home. Starting in the coming months, users will be able to stream live video in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode on Apple TV and receive real-time alerts via the Apple Home app.

This very section was removed from the Signify website in January – without sharing any further information with the press or the Hue community. This is a little surprising, given that at that point there were still more than two months left to meet the self-imposed deadline.

A Hue Secure demo with Apple Home was presented at CES

At CES 2026, which took place in Las Vegas at the beginning of the year, the feature was even presented alongside other new products in a specially rented suite. I have already pressed the Hue Secure video doorbell myself and seen the video signal on an Apple TV.

I am currently waiting for feedback from my contacts about what this is all about. As soon as I receive further information, I will share it with you here.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.

  1. “The first three months of the year are now over…” 👀 🤔 You must be way ahead in time of the rest of us 😅

    1. Oh shit, thanks for pointing that out. I have no idea what I messed up in my head. It’s been corrected!

  2. This is incredibly disappointing from Hue. They were one of the early partners when HomeKit first launched and I remember the CEO talking about how closely they worked with Apple in those early days. Fast forward a few years and they can’t even rollout half baked limited camera support?

  3. Heya! Do you know if there are any updates on this? The first three months did in fact pass now 😛
