While we are still in the dark about the latest firmware update for some selected Hue bulbs, Philips Hue has published new information on its website about an update for Hue Secure cameras. Software version 1.3.1.129080 is now available for download and will, in the best case, be automatically loaded onto your devices.
One point in the update notes is specifically aimed at the Philips Hue Secure Video Doorbell: “Fixed an issue to improve reliability for pre-capture recording for doorbell event video clips.”
The second adjustment is aimed at all Hue Secure cameras: “Fixed an issue where the camera’s microphone settings in the app may not have updated correctly.”
This is what Philips Hue is still working on for Hue Secure
As far as I am aware, work is continuing in the background on improvements for the battery-powered Hue Secure cameras, as there are still isolated problems with the devices charging correctly.
There are still more features to come for the video doorbell, including connectivity with Apple Home. This is of course also exciting for the other Hue Secure cameras, but with the doorbell we benefit from additional extras, such as an automatic picture-in-picture function on Apple TV.
In addition, Philips Hue had already promised in its announcement in September that, in addition to simple push notifications, there would also be optional video calls when someone presses the doorbell button. Unfortunately, I do not currently have a precise schedule for the release of these features. As soon as I find out anything, I will of course share the information with you immediately.
