When I took a look at the Hue app on the overcast days, something struck me as odd. The start page with the overview of the rooms seemed so empty. However, I didn’t immediately realise what exactly was missing. It was only a comment from a reader that put me on the right track.
It’s time again for some updates from the world of Philips Hue. However, I can already tell you that it’s not going to be spectacular, as there are probably no new functions. An update for the Hue Bridge was released a week ago. The firmware version 1963089030 merely improves the performance and stability of the system.
It’s been a few years since Philips Hue removed the widgets from its iPhone app, but back then they weren’t on the home screen anyway. Apple now allows widgets on the home screen – and since the launch of iOS 17, they can even be interactive. This means that actions can be performed without having to open the corresponding app.
In recent months, Philips Hue has released a new update every two or three weeks at the latest. Since the update to version 5.6 in mid-December, however, things have become quieter. Instead, version 5.7 has now been skipped and the update to version 5.8 has been released straight away. Although the Hue app has not been completely overhauled over the holidays, we can still look forward to some new functions.
This afternoon Philips Hue released another update for its official app – and this time it’s a particularly big one. Philips Hue 5.0 prepares the system for the new Hue Secure components that were officially introduced at the beginning of September. These Hue Secure features have been integrated into the app I have already answered the most important questions and answers about the Hue Secure cameras and the new security system.
Yesterday afternoon, Philips Hue released another update for its in-house app. Version 4.48 is here and brings two small innovations – one concerns the motion sensors and was already a topic on our blog yesterday at noon. But that’s not all, Philips Hue has another improvement in store. And this could be particularly interesting for you if you use the “Natural Light” scene.
Yesterday evening, Philips Hue released another update of its official app in the App Store. With version 4.47, the manufacturer improves the Sync function in the entertainment area. The update description in the App Store says: “Love syncing your lights with the content on your screen, but feel like one is just too bright?
The update to version 4.43 of the Philips Hue app is now available for download. The update description reads quite interestingly, because it says: “You can now invite users to your Philips Hue Home with an invitation link. In your Philips Hue account, go to Manage members > Add new member to send a link.”
Yesterday evening, Philips Hue released another update for its app, version 4.42 is now available for download. There don’t seem to be any obvious innovations, because the update description only says: “Various bug fixes and stability improvements.” However, it is possible that more has been done in the background. When I started the app for the first time after the update, it didn’t immediately want to connect to two of my three bridges and instead installed the first firmware update.
After the update to version 4.40, it wasn’t worth writing a separate article because the new features weren’t visible at all. Only with the update to version 4.41 does Philips Hue show the latest products from the in-house portfolio in the Discover section of the Hue app. A change in the Hue app that can hardly be surpassed in terms of excitement.
