About two years ago, Philips Hue introduced a new API. API stands for Application Programming Interface and is an interface through which apps can send commands to the Hue Bridge to perform certain actions. After the Philips Hue Secure contact sensors were already launched in mid-September, you can now also order the smart surveillance cameras from Philips Hue. For the launch, there are three different variants of the Hue Secure camera – each in white and black. At the beginning of September, Philips Hue introduced the new Hue Secure Contact Sensor, which can now be ordered in the manufacturer’s online shop. For 39.99 euros you get a sensor in white or black, in a double pack you pay 69.99 euros. How to connect the contact sensor to the Hue Bridge The contact sensor is ready for use immediately after unpacking.
I have another surprising piece of information for you, at least I would not have expected it today. In some countries the new Philips Hue Secure Contact Sensor is already listed in the Hue online shop and can be ordered there. Unfortunately, I don’t have complete information on which countries the sensor is available in.
This afternoon Philips Hue released another update for its official app – and this time it’s a particularly big one. Philips Hue 5.0 prepares the system for the new Hue Secure components that were officially introduced at the beginning of September. These Hue Secure features have been integrated into the app I have already answered the most important questions and answers about the Hue Secure cameras and the new security system.
As part of its product announcement on September 1st, Philips Hue promised to start selling spare parts directly through its online shop in October. Today I can share with you a list of all the spare parts available at launch, including prices. Philips Hue says that the selection of the offered spare parts was based on the requests of the service hotlines.
At the end of August, Philips Hue introduced another new light source. After E27, GU10 and E14, there are now spots with a GU5.3 base. From September, the new lamps will be available as White Ambiance and White and Color Ambiance, but there are still some question marks.
