Hueblog: Philips Hue has raised prices on numerous products

Philips Hue has raised prices on numerous products

Up to 15 Euros more expensive

It feels like everything is getting more expensive right now; even Apple has recently implemented massive price hikes. And Philips Hue is once again turning the price screw. At least, that’s what I’ve observed in the German Philips Hue online store, and it appears other countries are affected as well.

What I find quite interesting is that the price hikes mainly affect products that have been on the market for more than a year. The new products that Philips Hue has introduced since last summer are not affected. The prices of the new light strips, for example, remain unchanged.

The situation is different for older products. Even the Hue Calla and Hue Lily—Philips Hue’s very first outdoor products—have become even more expensive eight years after their debut. Unfortunately, there isn’t a complete list of all price adjustments, but I’ve picked out ten examples from Germany for you:

  • Hue Lily Starter Kit with 3 spots: 349.99 → 359.99 euros
  • Hue Calla Floor Lamp: 129.99 → 134.99 euros
  • Hue Appear Wall Sconce: 159.99 → 164.99 euros
  • Hue Play Lightbar 2-Pack: 139.99 → 149.99 euros
  • Hue Surimu Ceiling Light: 299.99 → 309.99 euros
  • Hue Filament Globe White Ambiance: 44.99 → 47.99 euros
  • Hue Gradient Signe Floor Lamp: 329.99 → 339.99 euros
  • Hue Festavia 8m: 119.99 → 124.99 euros
  • Hue Xamento Ceiling Light: 219.99 → 234.99 euros
  • Hue Go Portable Table Lamp: 159.99 → 164.99 euros

No specific pattern is apparent. Most of the products that have become more expensive cost only 5 to 10 euros more than before. There have definitely been more drastic price increases in the past.

Here’s what Philips Hue has to say about the price increase

Philips Hue shared the following statement with us:

“Philips Hue continues to invest in industry-leading smart lighting experiences. We have currently implemented targeted price adjustments for select Philips Hue products. These adjustments reflect ongoing cost increases in materials, components, logistics, and operations, as well as our continued investments in innovation, product quality, and supply continuity.

Like many companies in the consumer electronics industry, we continue to face rising costs in our supply chain. We have worked hard to absorb these increases wherever possible. However, given the ongoing cost pressures, a targeted price adjustment is necessary to ensure continued product availability, consistent product quality, and ongoing investment in the Philips Hue ecosystem.

The price adjustments apply to select Philips Hue products and product categories and may vary by retailer/channel and market. Consumers should check their local Philips Hue website or contact their retailer for the most up-to-date pricing information.”
