Actually, Philips Hue had a great idea with the launch of the Play Lightbar several years ago: The power supply is equipped with three slots to be able to operate several Lightbars at one socket. It feels like half an eternity, but it’s only been three and a half years since Philips Hue launched its first outdoor products. In June 2018, the Calla base light launched alongside the Lily garden spotlight. Now, in spring 2022, one of the founding members of the Hue Outdoor family is available in a new look: the Hue Calla with a stainless steel housing.
I already announced it on Monday, now it has happened sooner than expected: Philips Hue 4.12 is now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. In addition to the already announced effects Fireplace and Candle, the new version also brings six new, especially romantic scenes for Valentine’s Day.
Last week, Stefan Göhler, the developer of iConnectHue, came forward: He has integrated the fireplace and the candle effect into his application. The two effects were already officially announced by Philips Hue in a press release in January. At that time they wrote: In the first quarter of 2022, new effects will also be added to the Philips Hue app.
Just under a fortnight ago, Philips Hue announced that two new effects would be making their way into the Hue app by the end of March: A candle flicker and a fireplace effect. These two effects are available more quickly with the popular iConnectHue app. The developer Stefan Göhler is providing a corresponding update with immediate effect.
In contrast to the past years, when Philips Hue always had numerous exciting outdoor novelties in its luggage at the beginning of the year, things are a bit more leisurely in 2022. Today, Philips Hue officially presented two new products, although they are not that new. It starts with the Philips Hue Calla, one of the oldest outdoor lights from Philips Hue.

It should be common knowledge by now that Philips Hue does not necessarily offer the cheapest products. This is quite understandable, after all, quality and performance are in many cases better than with cheaper alternatives. Moreover, one has to consider that Philips Hue, in contrast to some other manufacturers, also takes care of software development.
