Currently I can't find an approach to triggering automation by pressing a button on a Hue tap dial switch. The idea or the reason is to start a sunset for sleeping where the light goes out in 15 minutes, for example. I can do this as an automation, but the child doesn't always go to bed at the same time. Would want to start this simply by pressing a button.
First of all, the reader's observation is correct. Philips Hue offers the “Go to bed” function as an automation that simulates a 15-minute sunset. However, you can only trigger this automation at fixed times and cannot put it on a switch.
But it is not impossible. And as is so often the case, a third-party app is used here as well; I use iConnectHue for this. Here, an “instant timer” can simply be set as an action on a button in the switch configuration.
And there are even more options than in the Hue app. The duration of the timer can be freely set from 1 to 120 minutes. In addition, you can specify whether dimming should start immediately or only for the last few minutes.
