Hue weekly: High praise for the OmniGlow

Another early launch in the Hue world. After the Flux Lightstrip was launched ahead of schedule, the Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip has now suffered the same fate. Unfortunately, not in Europe, but only in the US. Of course, I ordered one anyway. And at the end of the day, it’s better this way than if the light strip were to arrive late.

At least I’ve already seen what is currently the best light strip from Philips Hue, at the launch event in Berlin. There, Hue inventor George Yianni also told me that I should definitely compare the Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip with the COB light strip from Govee. “You’ll definitely notice a difference,” were his words. High praise indeed, which I will definitely check out.

At this point, I would also like to mention the pricing again. The two-meter-long Hue Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip had a list price of €159.99. The presumably significantly better Hue OmniGlow Lightstrip, on the other hand, costs “only” €139.99 – and is even one meter longer.

Don’t be put off by the €349.99 price tag for the 10-meter version. But consider how much the Hue Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip would have cost with eight extensions. I’ll tell you: €679.91. I’m not saying that Hue is suddenly cheap, but we’re finally moving in the right direction.
