In December, I introduced you to the now not-so-new T-piece for the Philips Hue Perifo track system. Among other things, I discovered that the asymmetrical shines of the Perifo system run in different directions from the T-piece. This means that you cannot place long light sources such as the Hue Perifo Gradient Light Tube or the Hue Perifo Linear Lightbar over the T-piece on the track system as they do not snap into place properly. But isn’t there perhaps a solution to this?
I took a look at the whole thing in practice, as I was also looking for a solution to this problem. Without further ado, I removed the cover on the holder of my Perifo Light Tube and discovered that the holders can be turned around relatively easily.
I did exactly that with the current-carrying holder of the Light Tube and then reattached the cover. With this little trick, I was able to insert the long light tube back into the Perifo system via the T-piece. Here is a small picture of the result, although the white covers for the rails are still missing:
There is only one small problem: the small screw for loosening the light tube is no longer quite so easy to reach, but you can still get to it quite easily from the side. This has opened up completely new possibilities for me, otherwise I would not have been able to attach the long Light Tube to my rails in the desired position.
In principle, this trick should also work with the linear Lightbar, but I haven’t tried it yet. If any of you here have already had experience, I’d be happy to hear about it in the comments. You can’t really do much wrong, but just in case, you should switch off the power supply during the conversion.
