Philips Hue Impress now available in the USA

This is my personal favorite

In the coming weeks, a number of Philips Hue products familiar from Europe will be making their debut in the USA. The first of these is the Impress outdoor light, which can now be ordered in three different versions in the United States. I would like to introduce you to my favorite, which is already in use in my garden at home.

First of all, I would like to briefly list the three new models. Clicking on the price will take you directly to the product page where you can take a look at the exact technical details.

My favorite from this series is the low-volt version of the Philips Hue Impress wall light. It fits into the existing 12-volt system from Philips Hue, where Calla or Lily are particularly widespread. The wall light can therefore be easily installed in places where there is no fixed power supply.

The Philips Hue Impress in my garden

In my home, for example, this is the case on one side of the terrace. Here I have simply mounted the Impress wall light on the partition to my neighbors to be able to illuminate my area much better.

The cable routing of the Philips Hue Impress is intelligently designed: there are cut-outs to break out the cable and route it to the left, right, top or bottom. Alternatively, the cable can also be routed to the rear through the mounting plate, which is a suitable solution if you want to attach the Hue Impress to a wooden fence or a garden shed and hide the cable on the back of the wall, for example. I definitely need to get a cable duct for this, as the cable is currently still hanging loosely downwards.

One thing to note: The low-voltage version of the Philips Hue Impress is only sold as an extension set; the scope of delivery only includes an extension cable and a T-piece for connecting to an existing low-voltage system. You have to provide the power supply yourself.

Over the last few years, I've become a real expert when it comes to Hue & HomeKit. I now have over 50 lamps and numerous switches in use. I'm happy to share my experiences with you in my little blog.
