I used the last few days for a short break before Christmas. With temperatures above 10 degrees, it wasn’t really wintery, but that’s set to change a little in the coming days, at least here in Germany. It’s already a little more wintery in the Philips Hue app. The eight Christmas scenes we’ve known for a while now are joined by eight more scenes in the new “Winter Whispers” section.
Halloween is about three weeks away and there’s still some time before the real spookiness starts. If you want to start preparing for Halloween, you can now find the familiar Halloween scenes in the Philips Hue app again. No update is required, you can simply take a look at the Hue light scenes gallery.
Philips Hue really set off a real fireworks last week, and I’m glad that all the new hardware isn’t available all at once, but will be released over several months. Philips Hue isn’t just concerned with new hardware, but also with software. On Thursday, the Philips Hue app 5.50 was released.
You may be about to do some digital spring cleaning – and of course Philips Hue should not be forgotten. If you want to clear your rooms of unused scenes, I have a little tip for you. Instead of selecting each scene, then tapping the edit arrow and deleting the individual scene, there is now a much quicker way to remove several scenes from a room at the same time in the Hue app.

I expressed this wish to Hue inventor George Yianni quite a while ago, and now my three Christmas fairy lights in the garden have reminded me again: Why does the light actually look the same every evening? This is how Philips Hue currently works: You switch on the light, such as the Hue Festavia in the garden, automatically.
In a little more than three weeks it will be time for Halloween. And what is still a relatively small affair here in Germany is celebrated in the USA, for example. Of course, you can provide the right lighting with Philips Hue. The Halloween scenes launched last year are now available again in the Philips Hue app.

Today I would like to deal with a small problem that I had not yet thought of. However, there are always letters on the subject, so a little advice can’t hurt. The problem is that newly created scenes do not appear in the switch configuration. Philips Hue has actually built in a little trap here.
Sometimes even I, as a proven Hue expert, have to start the search engine to get a simple thing done. I wanted to integrate a scene from the Hue app in HomeKit in order to use it with a HomeKit switch.
