As already announced last week, Philips Hue has introduced an exciting innovation around the dynamic scenes with the now released update to version 4.8 of the official app. From now on, the speed of these scenes can be adjusted. The special feature here is that each dynamic scene from the Hue Light Scene Gallery comes with its own default setting, so that the speed of the colour changes matches the mood of the scene.
Personally, I still don’t really like the look of Hue Essentials (Apple/Android), but that is ultimately a matter of personal taste. What is clear is that the app offers numerous functions that are not available in the Hue app. With the update to version 1.17.0, however, a function is now added that was originally introduced with the Hue app: You can colour gradient products with colour gradients.
For a little more than a month now, Philips Hue has been offering the possibility to freely select three colours for gradient products and to create automatically generated colour gradients based on this. Later, depending on the product, it will be possible to select even more colours, at least according to Hue inventor George Yianni.
Since today, version 4.7 of the Philips Hue app is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. As already announced by me, the dynamic scenes learn a lot with the update and work not only with the preset scenes, but also with self-created ones. Of course, this offers even more possibilities, even if the setting for adjusting the speed has unfortunately not yet been made available with this update.
In the past few weeks, Philips Hue has not only launched numerous new hardware products, but has also made significant changes to the software. In addition to the new gradient function and Spotify integration, we were also pleased to see the introduction of dynamic scenes. These dynamic scenes work very simply and are integrated directly into the room view.
For most of you it is already an old shoe, because the function was already unlocked last week. Now, however, Philips Hue has once again done some fine-tuning and officially introduced the new gradient functions for great colour gradients. With the update to version 4.5.0 released yesterday, the Hue app has officially been made ready for the new gradient functions, which I have already shown you in a short video here.
The proportion of users with Apple devices here on the blog is quite large. That’s why I would like to take this opportunity to explicitly discuss the connection of HomeKit in connection with the new Gradient function. After all, the existing Play Gradient Lightstrip as well as the new releases Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip and Gradient Signe can display a fancy colour gradient.
I’ve already given you a lot of information about the new gradient function, now I can announce that it’s a done deal: It seems that Philips Hue has started to activate the new gradient function last night for all users with app version 4.4. A further update is not necessary, the activation takes place “over-the-air”.
Just under a week ago, Philips Hue launched Dynamic Scenes. In the current version of the Hue app, you only have to select a scene from the Hue light scenes gallery to make a play button visible with which the dynamic scene can be started. So far, however, the change between the different colours is so slow that some users even think that the dynamic scenes do not work properly at all.

We still have to be patient, but from 14 September, the new Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip and the Gradient Signe will officially go on sale. The Gradient Light Tube will follow at the end of October. With the Play Gradient Lightstrip, a product with a colour gradient has already been available for some time.
