Last night, Philips Hue unveiled its new hardware at an exclusive media event in Berlin. We’re still working on our event video, which will go live by tomorrow morning at the latest. First up, there’s a “major” software update for you, as it jumps from version 5.73 to 6.0. First and foremost, the update focuses on support for the new products, most of which are available now.
As early as next week, Philips Hue will introduce a small adapter for Nanoleaf panels to integrate them into the Hue app. However, the focus will be on the newer Nanoleaf Shapes models: Triangle, Mini Triangle, and Hexagons. The new SpatialAware feature has been available in the Hue app since Tuesday. When used with the Hue Bridge Pro, lights in a room can be scanned to determine their positions, thereby optimizing the display of scenes. And in practice, this actually seems to achieve the desired effect, at least according to your initial experiences.
