Hue weekly: What about the update and accessory?

Over the past few weeks, I have been asked two questions repeatedly: What is the status of the Multi-Bridge migration, and when will the connectors for the Flux light strips be available? In my brief weekly review, I would like to offer a brief assessment of the situation.

Let’s start with the Multi-Bridge migration, which was promised for this year. In recent days, this has been a recurring topic on social media, with some users reporting that the feature is currently in beta testing. If Philips Hue maintains its normal update cycle, version 5.57 of the Hue app could appear in the App Store on Tuesday or Wednesday. Most likely with multi-bridge migration.

Why are there light strips but no accessories?

And what about accessories for the Flux light strips? These were also originally supposed to be released this year, and with a little luck, they still will be. However, a launch in early 2026 seems more likely at this point.

Apparently, there are difficulties somewhere in the production process. But should Philips Hue hold back its finished Flux light strips just because the optional accessories aren’t ready yet? I think the order is already correct.

And why are there still no third-party accessories? There’s an explanation for that too: the Lightstrip Plus and the Ambiance Gradient Lightstrip used connections with contact pins. This made it relatively easy to manufacture accessories. The Flux light strips, on the other hand, use simple contacts with accessories that are clamped on. Special plastic molds must first be created for the accessories.
