On its own “leaked” website, Philips Hue has already announced that new lightstrips are on the way. “Our new family of indoor and outdoor strip lights are brighter, bolder, and better than ever”, wrote the manufacturer. I can already tell you that there will be several new lightstrips. I can show you one of them today: the new Hue Outdoor Gradient Lightstrip.
Hue Outdoor Gradient Lightstrip can be integrated into the low-voltage system
Unfortunately, I don’t have any exact technical details yet, but the lightstrip shown here is just under 5 meters long. It comes with the 30-watt outdoor power supply that we already know from the Hue Festavia. Thanks to the low-voltage system, it can also be easily integrated into existing outdoor installations.
What is also immediately clear when compared to the previous outdoor lightstrip from Philips Hue is that This new product does away with a thick silicone cover and instead looks like a simple lightstrip, which we previously only knew from indoor use. So what you get here is an outdoor lightstrip that you probably won’t just lay in the flower bed or along the edge of the lawn. Instead, this version of the Hue Outdoor Lightstrip is probably intended for installation under a patio roof or eaves. Perhaps you have another idea for what you could do with such an outdoor lightstrip.
Unfortunately, I can’t provide any more details at this point, such as the price or brightness. But I’m sure we’ll learn a lot more about lightstrips in the coming weeks. At the latest, Philips Hue will officially unveil the new products at the IFA in early September.
