Hue Bridge improves interaction with motion detector

Firmware update to version 1969060020

We are unlikely to see an update to the Philips Hue Ap this week, but Signify has nevertheless continued to work on the software for its lighting system. A firmware update for the Philips Hue Bridge has been available for a few days. In the past, these updates have been rolled out over several days and are installed automatically if you have activated the corresponding function in the settings of your Hue app. Even if you don’t see the update to version 1969060020 yet – it’s best to just sit back and wait for the automatic update.

There are no real new features, but there is a potentially exciting bug fix. Philips Hue writes: “Improved motion sensor functionality when set to turn lights to their Last on state.”

In the past, there have indeed been occasional reports that the light did not return to the previous settings after motion was detected, but remained switched on unchanged or switched off incorrectly. This is exactly what should no longer happen with the latest firmware update for the Hue Bridge. Interestingly, this all happens on the Hue Bridge; there is no update for the motion detector itself.

These two software innovations are still a long time coming

The software update to version 1969060020 also improves the functionality of selected Twilight models, although it is not described here exactly what has been adjusted. As usual, the performance and reliability of the system has also been improved.

We still have to wait for the previously announced update for the Hue Secure System, which will enable cameras to detect alarms from smoke detectors. And the Hue Sync TV app for LG televisions has not yet been released either.

  1. I guess motion detection by cameras has something new too. Now u can set time when light needs to turn off again.

    Like with motion detectors

  2. Hopefully this will fix the problem I have every morning.
I enter the bathroom, the sensor triggers a low-intensity light (don’t wan’t to be blinded as a first thing), and while I go through my morning routine, I guess some time-out happens in the sensor and suddenly (10 minutes after the initial trigger?) the lights reset into a normal but blinding light. Aaaagh, I feel like Dracula being hit by sunlight!
